The Technical Services Committee is a student group that provides live events tech and stage management for all events at Sheffield Students Union.
Stage Management
I have stage managed hundreds of hours of events, including club nights, gigs, award ceremonies and corporate events. I’ve stage managed for artists including Shy FX, Dodie, Annie MAC, and Kae Tempest. I have also stage managed an outdoor music festival, the Students Union’s annual sports and activities awards ceremonies, live sporting events, and even the UK’s annual university brass band competition.
AV Technician
I’ve built, programmed and opped lighting and live video for gigs and club nights, including artists like Mdou Moctar, Confidence Man, Interplanetary Criminal, The Mission and LF System.
Broadcast
I’ve worked with Manor Operatic Society to provide live in-venue video for the UK’s largest ameteur pantomime for two years. I’ve also assisted Sheffield Students’ Union’s TV journalism committee with live broadcast for the annual officer elections.
Treasurer & Co-Chair
In the 2020/21 academic year, I was Treasurer of the committee. As Treasurer, I had to manage the Committee’s budget and liaise with the Students Unions’ staff and officers to ensure the smooth running of the committee.
In the 21/22 academic year, I was the co-chair of the committee. I had overall responsibility for crewing events, crew wellbeing, and on-call response for crewing and technical issues. We succesfully organised post-COVID recruitment to increase the number of society members, and delivered a record number of events.
